How big an image file do I need? – Here’s a guide. Files for use on a website are measured in pixels. The file size of 500KB is not suitable for printing. Files for printing use the industry standard of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch). Here’s an example: If you want to print an image that is going to be 15 x 10 cm you need a file size of 6MB.
